Catch yourself
In a week full of contrasts, here's what I've learned: Catch yourself enjoying a moment. I don't mean stop and smell the roses. I mean, catch yourself inhaling the scent before you know it. Catch yourself hearing a bird sing or noticing the breeze as it lifts the hair on your arm. Catch yourself recognizing a happy memory in a moment of witnessing strangers.
Life is full of obvious concerns. They can easily suck up all our attention -- death, terminal illness, worrisome diagnoses, job challenges, relationship, parenting, and other family concerns. I don't need to repeat them here for you, nor do I need to remind you how these worries can take over all your thoughts.
Even with all that going on, the beautiful moments still happen. Consistently. Catch yourself in the moments. They are just as real, just as important.
